Help me give my students a voice within the classroom! Many students are shy and do not speak loudly or clearly. This throwable microphone will make sharing their thoughts and ideas fun and less stressful.
With each new school year comes new changes for myself as well as my students, due to new students circulating in and other students graduating. Upon reviewing my upcoming students' needs, there are some tweaks that need to be made to my teaching strategies to ensure their success. My job as a special education teacher is to make revisions to meet the needs of all students so that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Due to the varying disabilities and academic levels within my class, small group instruction is essential for my students to succeed.
This type of instruction allows for more individualized attention from me, which they love. My students struggle tremendously with concepts that involve reading and math skills. With small group instruction and varied skill levels, it helps reduce their anxiety of "making a mistake" in front of all of their classmates. My goal is to provide creative strategies to help them maintain attention, improve their confidence, and improve their academic skills.
My Project
In small group and whole group discussions, many students become shy about sharing their ideas. Often times, I am repeating what the student says, taking away the ownership of their answer/ideas. I feel it's so important to teach students to be confident in themselves and feel proud of their responses.
Students enjoy sharing personal connections with stories that I read in class and often times, I don't feel we all get the full impact of their connections because they don't speak loud enough.
This microphone will allow for us to truly hear what they are saying. Students get excited sharing their thoughts and shouldn't have to try to repeat what they said because we couldn't hear them. When this happens, they often shy away, say never mind, or say that they forget, because they don't want to repeat themselves. This throwable microphone will keep my students engaged and excited about participating in class discussions.
