3rd grade students and teachers have been struggling their way up the learning curve with the current world circumstances. We ended the year with zooms, awards, and dance parties. Many succeeded in completing the distance learning that was offered. Now, though, as we face an uncertain fall, teachers are participating in trainings and lesson planning for multiple options.
Incoming third graders are a joyful, curious, energetic bunch who deserve the best of what we can offer, no matter how it is delivered.
Our desire is that they thrive and grow abundantly.
Distance learning has added many challenges to the lives of educators and students. No matter what the fall brings, teachers will need to determine students' abilities and needs.
Because reading is such a critical skill at this stage, 3rd grade teachers desire the assessment tool, STAR Reading, to identify reading levels and guide instruction.
This online resource would enable teachers to match students with the right level of book for growth and development. It gives immediate feedback, showing improvement and struggles. Teachers will be able to meet students on their level, encourage perseverance, and celebrate success.
