I work in a special education unit with kids that need extra help on their behavior. Our school is Title I which means that there is a large concentration of low-income students.
Our kids love hands-on activities, they are able to create amazing pieces of work with any materials that are handed to them.
All of our kids love to do craft projects, build with LEGO bricks, draw and paint pictures, and build puzzles. Most of our kids lack this kind of resources at home to develop and improve their abilities, they benefit from donations that some institutions make to the school and also from kind people that know the needs of our community.
In our classroom, we have routines in place that our students are good at already, but with the usage of the interactive notebooks and the tablet, our literacy centers and differentiated instruction will get the boost they need. The interactive notebooks would allow the students to make connections and learn in different ways. With the tablet, students will have access to countless apps and activities that will support each concept learned, and it would also give me feedback to better support and reteach.
If you donate to our project, students not only will have a better learning experience, but also countless opportunities to engage in healthy and meaningful socialization experiences.
With the board games, kinetic sand, and all the other supplies, students will be rewarded when working towards an activity of their interest.
