My students are a diverse group of learners. They come from a Title One school which includes many different economic and racial backgrounds. They have a wide range of reading levels which makes engagement in whole class reading sometimes difficult.
My students lack the passion and excitement that I desire them to have for reading.
They need motivation to become engaged in reading and to find out how much enjoyment can be had, when they get lost in a good book.
Every classroom has that one student. The student who makes everything and everyone around them miserable. This book is the perfect addition to any classroom. The book is written from the perspective of the "bully". He will show students how most times those students who are mean to others, do this because they are scared or have been hurt themselves so why not act the way everyone thinks they should.
This would make for a wonderful beginning of the year read for students.
There are many talking points to help build community in the classroom and show students that they need to give each other a chance.
