Help me give my students the opportunity to continue making projects of high quality while providing their existing supplies a place to be stored for future use in a storage cabinet and drawer organizer. The Scanner will be used to digitally store their work.
English is not the primary language of the students in the class. Some of them may have only been in the US for a year. As immigrants, they have first-hand experiences with several "new" experiences.
As a way to bring in excitement in the learning, the students will engage in multiple projects throughout the year.
Foundational knowledge will be covered in quarter 1 through a project called Every Family is Unique. The students will go through an activity where they will answer questions such as Who am I?, Why am I here?, Where am I going? In Quarter 2, they will discover that their journey is made of short, long, narrow, wide, swervy, straight lines through a project called Project Blueprint. Along the way, they will read up on experiences that others have gone through, and hopefully make connections with them. Additionally, they'll read up on different articles regarding immigration, naturalization, DACA, etc. Then, they will be introduced to the idea of a survival kit in quarter 3. They will unpack life surprises that could benefit from a survival kit, including but not limited to, their journey to the island. In quarter 4, they will work on finalizing their survival tool kits. They will also work with the photography class or someone in the field to capture in still motion what or how this survival kit could look like in a promotional flyer.
There's already some left over materials from previous year that need to be stored properly. The storage cabinet and 4-drawer mobile box will house these things. The scanner will be used to store projects electronically while the lamination machine will assist with the other projects.
