Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
On the first day of instruction, I ask my students, "Why do you come to school?" One of the reasons I draw from them is that becoming educated will empower them to make the world a better place. I challenge them to believe they can make a difference!
My students are eager learners who enjoy developing their minds.
They are inquisitive, respectful, and hard working. They have potential to succeed in school and life. All of the students at our school are enrolled in the free federal lunch program due to the poverty of our community. Their socio economic status presents challenges that can be overcome by support and effort. Every year I challenge my students to understand and believe they can make a difference by having pride in themselves and their community. Giving their best effort in all their work is
encourage and expected.
My Project
The resources requested will enable my class to participate in Disney's Planet Challenge. My students need to understand that they have the power to make a difference in their community and the world at large. The camera will be utilized to take pictures of students beautifying our campus. They will be engaged in recycling, planting and litter collecting projects.
As wonderful as our students are, they reside in a community that's replete with going violence.
Engaging them in Disney's Planet Challenge will empower them to take an active role in promoting pride in their community. This experience will be a critical step on their path to future success.
