Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school that suffered damage during Hurricane Harvey. Most of our classrooms do not have reading rugs for students to sit and listen to their teacher read aloud to them.
Our school is a Title I school where our students come from low income homes, and they lack school resources.
My main goal as a teacher is to provide and foster a nice and cozy environment for our students so they can feel welcome at school and happy to learn.
My Project
Our goal for this school year is that every classroom has a library for kids to access books anytime. We want to provide kids with more opportunities to read in the classroom. At my school, we don't have classroom libraries and that is a fundamental part of reading. We want to make that our priority.
To start building our classroom libraries, we need bins for our books to organize them neatly and be more accessible for kids to reach.
We are also asking for journals so kids can write after reading. We also need crayons, colored pencils, and markers to write on white boards.
