Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with a diverse group of 7/8 year old children. Many of my students come from single parent homes. They love to think on their own and explore new people and places. Our school is at 80% free/reduced lunch, with this being said, many of my students have huge obstacles to overcome to be successful. My reading class allows my students to explore new places, new ideas and new ways of thinking. My students are creative and have great energy for learning.
My Project
I am excited to start working on the exploration of Caldecott books! I want my students to have the opportunity to read quality literature and explain the diversity of Award winning art. We have found that while the children love to read, we need to dig deeper in their learning by allowing them to express their thoughts and opinions about different stories that generations of people have experienced. My students do not have art class and if we can encourage a love for art through literature and exploring books what a peaceful and happy world, we could show the children
