Help me give my students some warm coats for the chilly days. Many of these students come to school wearing simple hoodies or a couple of sweatshirts because they lack warm outerwear and it's COLD outside.
The students at my school face many challenges and insecurities in their daily lives, including poverty, homelessness, lack of food and proper clothing and incarcerated parents.
My students may lack basic necessities but they still come to school eager for that structure and to have something to smile about and of course, to learn.
Our Family Community Resource Center in the school provides those basic needs so children can learn (and smile too). Because of the high needs of the community, these kids are in need of basics such as socks, underwear, and shoes that fit well. Not only that but we live in a very cold climate and these kids don't have warm coats to wear.
Our kids come to school without a proper coat. They come wearing a couple of sweaters or worn out hoodies when it is freezing temperatures outside.
Kids deserve to have a warm coat and some gloves to keep them protected from the freezing cold outside.
Help me help them keep from getting sick and missing school. I was able to get hats for their little heads but coats are so hard to get. They deserve to go play at recess where right now they don't even want to go because it is so cold. Please help me help them!
