Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative and fun-loving kids. Many come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside the community.
Even though my students have access to online learning, many still depend on worksheet packets and whatever materials they have at home.
Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners. They love hands on learning and they enjoy making things.
My Project
With students being at home, it is important to provide students with the supplies and materials they need to continue to learn. Part of our learning includes arts and crafts. During the school year, I incorporate art in our weekly lesson plans. I find that art really allows students to be creative and helps to develop their fine motor skills, math concepts, problem solving skills, and boosts their self-confidence.
Right now, most students do not have the proper materials to create because they relied on the classroom supplies.
I would love to give my students their own paint, crayons, paper, so that they can be creative at home.
I know my students would love this new addition to our distance learning. They can participate in the art lessons during our Zoom meeting and have the materials they need. They can use these materials at home when they feel the need to express themselves in a healthy way.
