Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids love art and the classroom art center! Art boosts their self-esteem, sparks their creativity and gives them a chance to shine in their own way.
I've been teaching for 24 years so I need to replenish and improve some of my materials.
I have a passion for art so this is a subject and a center that I hold close to my heart.
With your help, I can replenish my art supplies and provide my students with the most up to date and creative mixed media.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will improve my existing artist studies and art center. They will continue to enhance the creativity and art appreciation that I strive to create in my classroom.
Art is a "free choice" center so the kids have close to no rules and they love it!
It is a center and subject that gives them an opportunity to express themselves freely, improve their fine motor skills, increase their verbal abilities and vocabulary and improve their visual discrimination.
My students do artist studies throughout the year and use mixed media to create works inspired by each one. My students learn about their lives and critique their work before we start to create. This inspires rich discussion, enhancing vocabulary, and developing sharp eyes that notice pattern, color, detail, mood, shape, and expression - many of these skills carrying over into reading and math.
I know my students will love learning about master artists and working in an art center that is full of brand new mixed media for them to utilize!
