My students love coming to school and they are eager to learn. Unfortunately, many of our families are unable to purchase basic school supplies or take their children outside of our community. Many of my students come from a high risk and low income community. I hope to provide them with the tools, skills, resources, and experiences they will need to be successful. I want to foster a love of learning for my students. I do not want their socioeconomic status to prevent them from exploring, experiencing, and learning.
These books will provide my students with fun and engaging literature. I love when my students beg me to read or are sad because we are only reading one chapter that day. I will use these books to not only teach my students to be kind, and not bully, but also to fall in love with reading.
Most of my student's don't read at grade level.
I hope to provide them with books they enjoy reading and therefore, want to read more. The only way to become a better reader is to read. Many of my students are also English learners (English is their second language), and reading can be challenging for them.
