My Students

The students who walk into my classroom each day come from a variety of different

socioeconomic backgrounds.

As a total, 60% of our students are from low income families. For many of my students, school is their safe haven. School may be the only time they get a full meal for breakfast and lunch. Many are sent home with snack packs to provide food for the weekend.

It is my goal to create an environment that allows all of my students to have a love of learning that empowers them to chase their dreams. I want each child to know that I care about what they are interested in learning and I will try to find as many resources as I can for them! I want my students to enter my room each day knowing they are loved and cared for.

My Project

August is a time when most kids preparing to go back to school look forward to loading up on school supplies. That usually means long lines at Target or Wal-Mart filled with kids sporting brand new folders and notebooks displaying the hottest sports team, music group or superhero. Unfortunately for a growing number of kids, this process is more stressful than exciting as their families are among a growing number of lower income families in my school district.

Every year I feel the pressure growing to do something extra for these kids to give them the same feeling of pride and inclusion as their peers.

The classroom funds provided by my district that i prefer to use for special projects and field trips are being depleted by the necessity to buy school supplies. Your donation will help provide school supplies to those students in need and help alleviate the cost of classroom craft materials.
