My Students

I work in an elementary school that has 900 students in grades K through 4. Our school has a high level of poverty as well as a high level of students with special needs. Some of these students need support with communication and language skills in order to effectively show what they know and engage with others.

Communication is a skill we all take for granted and as a speech/language pathologist, I strive to create a level playing field for all students with communication needs.

My Project

My students who are nonverbal will use this communication device to interact with others to communicate. The Logan ProxTalker allows these students who use picture systems to have a voice output device that is picture based. Having voice output helps to gain the attention of the communication partners in the classroom.

My students are smart, sweet, engaging young people who have disabilities that impact verbal speech but that is not an indication of what they can accomplish.

The Logan ProxTalker will allow my students to be social and show what they know about the world around them as well as their academic knowledge.
