Little ones' excitement and positive experiences in preschool will set the tone for all of the future learning throughout their school careers.
The children in my class are so excited to be at school and just want to learn, play, grow and be loved.
These students have all been identified as having factors in their lives that make them at risk for school failure. 100% of them are low income, and all have one or more other factors such as: chronic illnesses, developmental delays, violent or aggressive behavior, unemployed or disabled parents or lack of safe family and/or home environments.
My Project
Art is so important for children's development and helps them in many ways. I would like to use these materials in my class so that my students can experience creative art every day throughout the school year. Children will be given the opportunity to work with the paints, tape, drawing tablets and other materials freely during their center time to design open-ended creations, while experimenting with various art techniques.
A PBS study has shown that art education, not only improves children's creativity, but also spills over into other areas of learning as well.
Children who have regular art education are more likely to be recognized for academic achievement. These children also are developing improved fine-motor skills, decision-making abilities, focus and increased confidence as they work with the arts. Art is important on many fundamental levels, and I wish to ensure that my students can grow and develop through these experiences!
