Every Art Student Should Experience Solvent-Free Oil Painting!
My students need brushes, canvas panels, painting knives and water-soluble oil paints because there is no need to use toxic solvents as with traditional oil painting.
Our school brings students from three surrounding communities together and provides them with caring teachers, rigorous academics, and a safe learning environment either through our high school program or through our career and tech programs. The goal here is to prepare them to be successful in whatever they choose to do.
My students are some of the most creative souls you'll ever meet.
But for many of them, the art classes offered here are sometimes their first (and only) exposure to the visual arts. Furthermore, students are not able to experience oil painting as traditional oils require the use of toxic solvents.
My Project
Students need water-mixable oil colors that are truly solvent free, providing a safe alternative to painting in traditional oils. These water mixable oil colors look and feel like traditional oil colors, and even have the aroma of traditional linseed oil, but they thin with water. My students also need brushes, palette knives, and canvases to complete various painting projects.
Through the arts, students are able to express themselves.
With these water-mixable oil colors, students will be able to experience a medium unknown to them through which they can utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to further their creativity. They will create projects that teach the students how to use oil paints as well as expose them to painting techniques for creating both realistic and abstract artworks.
