My students need supplies, supplies and more supplies! We are running out of pencils, erasers, folders, paper and hand sanitizer and we're not even half way through the school year, yet.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with many difficult challenges both in and out of the class. Despite several challenges they face, I am looking to keep things easy and provide my students with a meaningful learning opportunity.
Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.
Our classes serve students with a range of disabilities, including Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Behavior Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities. The typical student in my class reads at a second grade level and many struggle with reading and number. 100% of my students are African American. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population. Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instructions in Science, Math, ELA and Social Studies without the necessary tools to teach our students.
My Project
My students need supplies! We are running out of pencils, paper, erasers and sanitizing wipes and we're not even half way through the school year! Many of my students come from homes that are struggling financially. This year many of my students did not bring in school supplies. We are running out of paper and pencils! And we haven't even started second semester. We have 1 1/2 reams of paper left and packs 2 packs of pencils. Please help us end the school year successfully.
Please help us get a vast amount of supplies such as folders, pens, pencils, erasers, and copy paper to help us end the second semester on a good note.
We are also in need of sanitizing wipes. We are currently experiencing cold and flu season and we want to keep our kids healthy so they can continue to come to school to learn.
