Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are attending a Title I school with little resources. Our school is located in an impoverished area where some of them are homeless or have an unstable home life. These students would greatly benefit from having basic materials that unfortunately their parents cannot afford.

My Project
This year our class is starting with nothing. I just moved from another state to teach at a title I/high needs school. Walking into my new classroom was bittersweet. I am excited to see my new class flourish and grow academically, yet I do not have the means to provide these students will all the materials they will need for the year.
These 5th graders deserve to come into a classroom where all their essential supplies are ready for them.
The list of materials I am requesting include paper, pencils, highlighters, color pencils, scissors, and books. My classroom needs books to start a classroom library. On my list I added some engaging and popular books so my students have access to reading materials that will increase their love for reading. I have also included basic teaching tools (like chart paper, rulers, and scissors) to support various activities I plan to conduct during my reading and math blocks. The whiteboard slates will facilitate students discourse and allow me to provide quick feedback. All the materials I have included will allow me to meet every child's need in my room so they can increase their academic achievement.
