Help me give my students the opportunity to experiment with different mediums including acrylic paint, watercolor and printmaking, by providing art supplies such as paint, paper, brushes, brayers and ink.
I have the opportunity to teach art and music to an amazing group of special needs students in 4th through 8th grade. Daily, my students work to learn and apply themselves as they strive to overcome the obstacles life has created. These challenges include autism, learning disabilities, sensory issues, developmental delays, anxiety, depression, and more.
Our phenomenal school is a Title I charter school (80% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches) serving students with mild/moderate to moderate/severe special needs, specifically autism.
Our school was founded by parents whose children needed more than what was offered elsewhere. Our amazing school serves 24% of the autistic students in the state of Utah! The demand for our particular approach is so desired by our families that many travel 30 - 45 minutes or more each way to school so their child can have the support and learning opportunities we provide. These students are amazing, kind, loving, eager to learn, and deserve the very best we can offer.
My Project
These materials are going to help create an amazing artistic environment for students to experiment with and to learn effectively. I always looking for ways to give students opportunities to explore there interests in art and to expand their understanding of what they are able to create. These materials will help to give students these opportunities.
Having an art room that is supplied with a variety of artistic medium is essential for making an inviting and engaging space for students to be creative.
Art is a chance for students to learn creative problem-solving that is essential for them learn, and art inherently involves interactive and hands-on learning and teaches them to understand the visual nature of the world.
