Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is full of enthusiastic bilingual students eager to learn every day. There are 30 English Learners who are amazing and love to be challenged each day. They come daily to class with smiles and dedication. They love to explore new learning with the integration of social studies and science through reading.
Our school is a Title I school, with 93.5% of students coming from low-income families.
The neighborhood is high in poverty. There is a high population of Latinos in our school.
My Project
My students live in a high poverty neighborhood. Many come to school without supplies that are extremely important for their learning in the classroom. My students need these essential materials to be successful.
My students need pencils to be able to write in the classroom as well as dry erase markers with erasers to use when they are working in their centers on whiteboards.
They need folders, notebooks, glue, and highlighters for their everyday learning in the classroom. They also need a lapboard supply center so that students are able to place whiteboards away and be able to get them when needed. These materials are required in order for them to be successful, and they come happy knowing that they have these materials to learn.
