My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have grown up with technology as a foundation of their childhood, others have never been introduced to technology. The two elementary schools that feed our school are both Title I schools so many of the students are at or below the poverty line. Some students come from a home where parent involvement is not a priority. For the vast majority of my students, school is as much of an outlet as it is an educational environment. I am trying to create an environment where students are engaging in relevant curriculum and at the same time being challenged to solve real-world problems.
My Project
These materials will help make a huge difference in my class! Many of my students struggle to get basic materials such as pencils. This project is directly aimed at easing the burden of school supplies on my students families.
My students often report having headaches in my room as a result of the large number of fluorescent light panels.
The light defuser panels will help to eliminate the amount of fluorescent light they are exposed to on a daily basis.
The pencil sharpener in my room is past it's prime and desperately needs to go into retirement. This new electric sharpener will allow my students to quickly and efficiently sharpen their pencil so they may get back to their work!
