Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite the odds against them, from Day 1 my students have come to my classroom with the eagerness to build a love for literacy. During the storm my students not only suffered in their homes but in the classroom as well. Being at school, makes the teachers work even harder to prepare our kids for a bright future! They will eventually be prepared to go out into the world with the love of literacy. Families have been displaced and students have missed many days of school. Our entire libraries and reading area were ruined . The winds and waters of Hurricane Harvey have destroyed our school and everything within. As we are eagerly rebuilding new and improved facilities to strengthen education in our neighborhood and beyond, we also continue on our mission to learn, lead, and be great.
My Project
After losing everything in our classroom rebuilding has been the hardest part. New tables will help my students be comfortable while learning. The tables offer more space for students to work with! My students love working in collaborative groups. In these groups students are able to learn from their peers. The tables will also be beneficial during our literature circles. Literature circles also helps instill the love of literacy with students. They are able to hear and model good reading habits to one another to help each other grow. I would appreciate all of the help to rebuild after Harvey.
