Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a Title 1 school, and my students are all English learners from many different backgrounds. Their families came to this country in order for them to receive a better education and to give them an opportunity to reach their dreams. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic families, and yet they are eager and enthusiastic about learning. However, their family and/or the community are struggling to help with English homework or reading.
Learning from the challenges of distance learning this past school year, my students are struggling academically especially in reading and writing.
My Project
All of the supplies will be used daily for both reading and writing in my class. Although students are given a set of school supplies at the beginning of the school year, many of my students do not have school supplies at home to practice what they have learned in school. We are still in desperate need of writing supplies to enhance their writing skills at home.
This project will allow my students to focus on learning and not to worries not having enough school supplies to complete their tasks.
All the supplies will support lower-income students to have the school year that they deserve. The clipboards would allow my students to practice social distancing while completing their jobs. The teacher trolley helps me continue to teach reading and writing in a small group instruction setting while following Covid social distance protocol.
