This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, unique learners who are different and special in their own ways. They all come with different stories, experiences and learning styles. Regardless of what their backgrounds or home lives may be, one thing is for certain: they love to come to school and learn. School is their safe place, their place where they feel part of a family and a place where their possibilities are endless.
My students face so many obstacles and uncertainties, that having the right tools provides them with success that they may never feel outside of the classroom.
My students' love of learning and excitement when they come to school makes them so inspiring. Their outlook on the world and how they interact at school makes them so special and unique. I love and am proud to teach each and every one of my students.
My Project
With all that has gone in the world, my students missed out on valuable learning, especially with their foundational sight words. My students need to learn these sight words and the upcoming students will need to play catch up as well.
With resources like these, sight words can be visible, interactive, meaningful and incorporated daily which will lead to my students retention these essential words which are key to reading.
The pocket chart stand will allow for the pocket charts to be out and visible all day. This way, students can use them when they write, read, and for reference. The sentence strips will promote their reading in context and the word strips will be perfect to write the sight words on. To keep these tools accessible and for years to come the sentence strip box will be essential.
