Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have had the pleasure of working with some exceptional students diagnosed with moderate to severe autism and intellectual disabilities.

Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while others are trying to learn​ social skills during inclusion.

My students love to play outside, learn new games and activities, and dance to a sweet tune.

The work we do in this classroom includes building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, working on independent skills, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.

My Project

Students in my classroom are diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and range in abilities. While some students are learning how to write independently, others are learning are to read. Sensory items are essential in my classroom and help students focus and stay on task.

Learning workbooks with velcro has helped my students through the use of repetition.

My students require moderate to full support and work best using sensory educational toys and manipulatives. These items are essential to my students with intellectual disabilities and can help them make academic progress; hence reaching their goals.
