Essential Items For A Well Deserving Wrestling Team
My students need these items to be able to compete with their more fortunate counterparts in the sport of high school wrestling. Receiving these items can and will be the difference.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are wrestlers in a inner city school in a not so good area. The kids on the team are mainly kids who are struggling in an environment that isn’t very conducive as far as being able to excel or thrive in so many ways. Most come from barely above poverty stricken single parent homes and are just trying to do something positive and constructive to keep themselves busy and out of trouble. This is where wrestling comes in. Through wrestling my assistant coach and I are able to be a positive and impactful influence on these young student/athletes, boys and girls and to the best of our ability help them learn some things through wrestling. Things like discipline, hard work, team work and sportsmanship. I’ve had several kids to come through my program and go on to be very successful in life. Some going off to college, enter into the military, and a few even becoming Entrepreneurs establishing their own businesses.
My Project
These items will make a very big impact and difference in the lives of these young student / athletes. Obtaining these items will help them in several areas of their lives. They will allow them to be a part of a positive as well as constructive team building entity. It will help to give them the opportunity to be a part of a sport that will develop their character, commitment, dedication and self confidence as well. These items will also show them that people they don't even know giving to them is a sign that there are people in this world who care and don't mind helping those trying to help themselves thus sparking them to want to pay it forward someday when they can.
