My Students

I teach kindergarten in a Title I northern California elementary school where about 50% of our student population qualifies to receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. I have several second language learners, some identified special needs children, some students who have gone to TK or preschool, and some who are starting their first year in formal education.

My students are inquisitive, and they are learning how to have a growth mindset as they begin to read, explore numbers, and problem-solve in both math and science in small, collaborative, differentiated groupings with an emphasis on personalized learning as part of our daily workshops.

My students are eager to learn and want to jump into reading, math, and science every chance they can!

My Project

We are requesting ten Chromebooks with Google licenses for our classroom. Once we started distance learning, we needed to make sure every student possible was able to take home one of our School Chromebooks. We were lucky enough to meet the needs of many of our students so they could connect with Google Classroom or online programs such as Zoom and Seesaw as well as online programs we have for them such as Happy Numbers, our Benchmark books, RAZ-Kids and more. I'm not sure if we will see these Chromebooks again and if we do, what shape they will be in. I do know that we need to replenish our supply and be ready for the new school year this coming Fall.

Thank you so much for reading our proposal and hopefully helping my students have the technology they need to practice important reading skills and gain foundational skills in math as well as begin to research topics they are excited to explore.
