Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ambitious, team-oriented, intelligent, and hilarious are some of the words I’d use to describe my students. They are a group of individuals who excel in the growing tech-based environment we are seeing rise. Students who live for the excitement and thrill of a new challenge, but also understand that camaraderie is more valuable than victory.
They may not be the loudest bunch or the most adventurous, but they will always look out for those in need.
They’ve spent a great deal of time trying to find themselves in the crazy world that is high school and as such they’ve grown to be rather resilient. With a firm grip on their future, they know how to take charge and move pieces in order to achieve their goals.
They may not fall within the traditional status of ‘athlete’ or ‘scholar’, but where their passions lie – they are second to none. Coding, beta testing, graphic/character design, and leadership is where many of their passions lie. This is seen in the projects they’ve already accomplished without the help of anyone but each other. Thus, one can only imagine just what they’re capable of when given support.
My Project
With a rise in the Esports (video game competition) students are now able to put their skills to the test in order to win scholarships for well-known universities. The equipment above will help my students take another step further into the world of esports as they embark on team-based competition and utilize the headsets to speak to one another. These headsets will mark the growing point for our team as they’ll be able to further their critical thinking and team-collaboration skills.
These materials will help students who often feel forgotten by traditional extracurricular feel as if they have a place to come together.
They'll be able to build and slowly start to develop their esports team into something that will not only benefit them, but also all the students who will join the team in the years to come.
