Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At my school, we serve a very underprivileged group of individuals. These young ladies and gentlemen come from broken homes with little money (school is 100% free lunch). They have very little to look forward to and that is something that I try to change within the walls of my classroom. I believe that through your help my room can become a refuge for those students who see education as their way out of this downward spiral. In addition, I want my room to be a place where people who don't like education can eventually start to turn themselves around before they go to high school.
My Project
ESPN has stated that they will help any sports program with a matching donation to the school's sports program for equipment like our basketballs. That means that your sports dollars can go further on this project. The hope is to get our basketball teams, both men's and women's, some new equipment for both practice and play. We currently only have enough basketballs to run open drills and can't even do multi-game training. These young men and women are the future of athletics in our area and we need to promote their ability to be trained like champions so that when with great training they can play great games too.
