My students need materials to participate in language learning projects!! These are EL students who will be learning civics as they learn the English language.
My students love to learn! I teach History and Geography in a transient, coastal community along the east coast. I teach students from a variety of backgrounds and life situations. My school has a high population of SPED and ESOL or EL students. My students love to learn and enjoy using maps.
I love teaching because I love to see students master something that they did not think they could do.
I love to see the happiness and success on their face when they are successful. I love my profession because I see the positive side of humanity in education. I love to teach students how to be successful.
My Project
My students need supplies to make language learning activities engaging and fun!! The supplies needed are items such as scissors, tape, colored pencils, card stock and sharpies. These items will be used to create projects to demonstrate vocabulary and concepts they have learned. The students will be learning civics while they learn how to speak, read, and use the English language. Many of the students are a level one, which means they speak very limited English. They need the supplies to make learning engaging and fun as they develop stronger English skills. If people cannot read nor write the language, they will have a hard time participating in civic action.
These supplies will help EL students learn Civics and the English language at the same time.
These supplies will help create fun vocabulary activities for the students.
