My students need notebooks, comprehension books, writing starters, dictionaries and other vocabulary aids to further their writing and comprehension skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever been to a boot camp? Well very shortly, my students will be engaging in a Reading and Writing Boot Camp. They are ready to buckle down and enhance their skills, but, we don't have the necessary supplies. These supplies will give them the needed boost to succeed in boot camp.
My students are Eighth grade ESL students.
There is a wide variety of English proficiency amongst them. We are a high poverty school and do not always have the resources for the students' independent study. My students are great, they are hard working, but, become stymied when we don't have the materials for them to complete their work. Those that have the ability, love to research and work independently, these extra supplies will help a great deal.
My Project
Many of my students feel that they are not valuable and this feeling is reinforced by the lack of support that they receive. Small things such as having the necessary supplies to do their work and tools to help them work independently are important. My Eighth graders will be leaving me soon and I want them to know that not only do I care about them, but, that there is a big world full of people that are pulling for their success. Please help my students do their best. We need a variety of supplies including notebooks, comprehension books, writing starters, and dictionaries.
This Reading and Writing Boot Camp is important for my English as a Second Language students.
