The students in this transitional Kindergarten class come from an average to low-income area and have varying needs.
Within the class, there are gifted and talented students, students with disabilities, and English language learners.
Despite this, the school has received academic achievement awards the past six years, is a California Distinguished School, and a School For Advanced Studies.
These accomplishments are due to the strong partnership between school and home, and we would love to throw community into the mix, too. This is a school where high academic standards are maintained for all students in a safe and nurturing environment. The faculty and staff are lifelong learners themselves and foster that love of learning in their students. The faculty and staff work hard to ensure that the record of achievement continues.
We live in a world of data and accountability, and though that isn’t bad, it is time-consuming. I spend so much time testing and collecting data that I miss out on a considerable amount of teaching time. ESGI does a lot of the work for me, which means that I will have time for things like science experiments and art. This gives them more learning time, less testing time, less stress, and more time to be the amazing kids they are.
Assessing students is a part of everyday life in the classroom.
ESGI is assessment software that makes tracking and sharing student progress a breeze! This software will improve students' academic success by allowing for quick and easy assessments. Assessments are an important part of teaching as the results of the assessments drive instruction. However, assessments can also take away instructional time because they can be lengthy to administer. This assessment software is also a great benefit to families. After doing the assessment, ESGI generates parent letters and flashcards that can be printed and sent home. ESGI can do this in multiple languages; facilitating communication with families who speak a different language at home. Reinforcement of skills at home will assist students in becoming successful readers.
