Help me give my students a chance at reading the upcoming school year's Sunshine State Books. Our school has a big party at the end of the year for all of the students who have read these books.
I teach in a classroom full of sweet and enthusiastic ESE students. They have a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments. My students range from 2nd through 5th grade. They learn best through hands-on activities. They all strive to be their very best at all that they do.
Each child has their own unique abilities and talents that they bring to the classroom.
My paraprofessionals and I work very hard to make sure that every child strives to be their very best. All of my children are below grade level in reading.
My Project
Every year our school takes students who have read all the Sunshine State Books on a field trip. The ESE classes have never participated. I would really love to give my students the chance to be involved. All of my students are below grade level due to their disabilities and are unable to read these books on their own.
Reading is the key to their future!
We could read these books as a whole group and have great discussions about each of them. The students will have the opportunity build on their oral language skills. Then, at the end of the year, they will be able to participate in a school wide field trip in a limo out to lunch with all of the other students in the school.
