Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our school, we focus on STEAM - science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. As the resource teacher, I'm in charge of helping to support some of our neediest students so they can access the curriculum just like their grade level peers.
Students need choices: that's what these supplies will provide them!
By providing them with the notebooks, folders, and colored pencils, students will be able to move away from the traditional desk and chair combo in my room and sit on the floor, or on a wobble stool with a clipboard, and still access their assignments.
My Project
My students and I will be able to use these materials to personalize their work. Instead of relying on file folders in a drawer and pulling out lessons for each student, each time, I'll be able to have their updated lessons in a binder each time they come to my resource room.
Students are motivated to work when they have ownership over the space they work in.
So, their binders, with the personalized covers they will make with colored pencils, will help motivate them when the work gets tough, because the binder belongs to them.
