My Project

We are reaching out to invite your support for an enriching educational opportunity that will greatly benefit our English Language Learners (ELLs) and struggling readers in upper elementary grades. Our students are currently engaged in a natural disasters module, where they explore the causes and effects of events like tsunamis. As part of this curriculum, we aim to provide each student with a copy of Escaping the Giant Wave, a captivating fictional story set in Oregon that revolves around the dramatic experience of surviving a tsunami. This high-interest, low reading level book is a perfect fit as it combines engaging storytelling with critical lessons on disaster preparedness. By donating towards our book purchase, you will empower our students to enhance their reading skills while simultaneously expanding their understanding of real-world issues.

Books like Escaping the Giant Wave are essential tools in our educational toolkit because they help bridge the gap for ELLs and struggling readers who need materials that are both accessible and engaging.

High-interest stories capture students' imaginations and motivate them to read, fostering a love for learning that goes beyond the classroom. The book’s accessible language ensures that all students, regardless of their reading proficiency, can participate fully in discussions and activities. Furthermore, the story's context offers a valuable platform to teach about natural disaster preparedness, equipping our students with knowledge and skills that are applicable to real-life situations. Your generous contribution will not only support literacy improvement but will also inspire and prepare our students for a brighter future. Thank you for considering this vital investment in our children's education.
