Our school is a neighborhood school – our campus is nestled between oaks trees in an old, established neighborhood. My two classes of 36+ curious and lively third graders who come from very diverse backgrounds.
As a Title I school, more than 62% of our students are eligible for free-and-reduced lunch.
We also present a variety of learning styles, including ESE and ELL. We come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Many of us are the children of active duty military members, and we deal with frequent and prolonged deployments. Some of us are immigrants from other countries, and we are assimilating into the culture and learning the language. We are a classroom of enthusiastic learners, especially for math and science! We love to work together in pairs and small groups and learn by teaching each other.
My Project
A Breakout EDU kit contains an immersive game platform for students at all grade levels and for multiple subject areas.
In Breakout EDU games, students work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box.
Today’s students are expected to develop and use critical thinking skills and teamwork abilities in order to be successful. With these kits, they are using those skills while playing a fun, interactive “game”.
Each kit can be used for hundreds of games. This group of students would need three kits in order to break them into smaller groups. Each kit contains digital access to the games, several different types of locks, boxes, invisible ink pens, flashlights, and much, much more.
