Sixth grade students arrive to me with the most incredible level of curiosity. I am their first 'real' science teacher, prior to this they are exposed to science maybe three times a week. I have ALL of the students on our team and they are in heterogeneous groups. It can be a daily challenge to meet the children where they are, challenge them, and make Science meaningful, engaging, challenging and fun...but I love it!
I strive to develop a sense of curiosity and wonder in my students while we learn together.
My Project
Students will explore some of the wonders of science utilizing the Escape Room Theme. Various lock boxes and locks will be used as students explore science content. Their knowledge will lead them to clues, which in turn will lead them to locked puzzles, furthering their adventure in learning. All experiences will be grounded in science content and aligned to the NGSS standards. The actual manipulation of locks adds to the excitement of our adventure.
The actual locks and lock boxes will be a terrific enhancement to our content as it will promote excitement and wonder.
The printing and laminating supplies will be utilized to provide content rich material that will be used year after year.
