Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a diverse population of low income ESL students with a variety of needs. My students are full of character! They enjoy collaborating with one another in various ways. They really are real-world problem solvers. I see growth in my students academically, psycho-socially, and mentally. My students are excellent collaborators and hard workers.
Learners in my classroom enjoy hands-on technology integrated activities to show off their 21st century skills.
My students are a work in progress, we consider ourselves, "under construction." With our growth mind-set we will continue to reach new heights.
My Project
My students do not have a lot of access to magazines, much less a magazine subscription. Research shows that an increase in reading will increase a students test taking stamina. Who want to just sit and read something that a teacher requires?
The Time for Kids articles will give students the opportunity of choice.
Students will also be able to keep the magazines. I am tired of hearing students say, " I don't have books at home." The Time for Kids articles have no boundaries when it comes to content. They incorporate math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. My students will also increase in engagement with the awesome text features!
