Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my class are 9-10 year old 4th graders with a passion for communication through writing. They are thrilled to use their revising and editing skills in escape rooms. They work together as a team and really know how to defend their thoughts.
My students are amazing to work with and their success is my success.
I've been working with students in this area for 10 years, and every year they surprise me with the level of commitment they have towards school. They deserve the best education!
My Project
My students are obsessed with escape rooms, and I love making them. Some people call me the escape room expert at my school. The lockers I want to purchase would provide a place for me to hide something my students are trying to acquire. For example, I could put homework passes, a bag of chips, or some type of toy inside.
This would help motivate my students to complete their activities and learn a new skill.
Instead of breaking out, they would have to break in the locker. There would be a variety of locks involved with this activity. I already have a four digit realtor's lock where the key would be hidden. Students would have to break in that lock to release the key to the main locker. There is no doubt my students would love having this as a motivational tool in my classroom.
