Ergonomic Stools to Allow Kids to Focus and Learn!
My students need ergonomic stools that transform stationary sitting into an activity, ideal for brainstorming sessions and other active sitting environments. You're moving, even when you seem to be sitting still.
I teach a diverse group of students at a school-wide Title I building. Our classroom is made up of 80% who receive free or reduced-price lunch, which means most of my students and their families face daily economic challenges.
My students face many emotional challenges as well.
Many students in my area come from homes that include: broken-up homes where parents are often fighting, being raised by grandparents, housing instabilities, drug abuse in the house, imprisonment and constant poor decisions that affect the family well-being. Many of my students do not have a support system to help them read, write and succeed in class.
They need any help they can get.
My Project
These Hokki stools allow my students to be active while not disrupting the class. It's critical for my children with ADHD, but all children can benefit from these. They're fun to sit on and students are continually active, which means no sleeping or getting tired in class. I had five of these donated two years ago, but I had requested two of the Hokki Stools and three other stools that were cheaper. The ones that were cheaper are now breaking, as the plastic is coming through the top making it uncomfortable to sit upon. The two Hokki Stools I requested are still going strong. We have a sign-out sheet for the stools, they're so popular, and the kids never let me forget it, which is why I know I need more.
