Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low-income/high poverty community in the heart of Los Angeles. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Many of them are first generation ELL students, come from single-parent households, and are part of the free lunch program.
Despite the many challenges they face, my students come to school eager, excited, and ready to learn when they walk through my door.
I am looking forward to providing my students with fun, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences that will help them be college and career ready.
My Project
Many of my students require multiple opportunities to practice their fluency in order to increase their rate, speed, tone, and comprehension. Therefore, we are asking for individual dry erase markers and erasers that can be used when students are in their reading rotations. These materials will allow my students to be able to reuse the same fluency passages various times and see their growth.
Being able to practice various times the same passage is a strategy used to improve fluency.
We are also asking for laminating sheets that will be used to protect the fluency passages. Being able to laminate sheets allows for repeated practice.
