My Students

I work in a small, local school where 90% of my student population are Native American students. They are unique, clever, and highly motivated.

Teaching first grade is very rewarding.

Seeing students excel shows that I'm making a difference in the world!

My Project

I'm requesting updated texts about equity vs. equality and racial justice for my first grade classroom library. My library is lacking in some areas for teaching about different cultures, specifically Native American, African American, and Latino/Hispanic Americans. I would like to use these texts to guide my instruction during the heritage months they represent.

Some texts I've included are Coretta King Scott's Scholastic class set, Bear's Tail, by a local Native American author from North Dakota, and other texts.

Thank you for considering my project. My students will gain a wealth of knowledge from these texts.
