Mrs. Ballard from Rocky Mount NC is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the chance to experience hands-on learning through these iPads. They will have increased engagement and student choice through exploration.

Our students are governmentally labeled as low economic status with our entire school being free lunch. However, we label them as successful, determined, and able as we see that they are ready to use their hands to learn on a daily basis. Our students work hard to achieve their goals, but they also need certain materials in order to have access to an equitable educational experience in comparison to the rest of our state and nation. Some people stereotype students in poverty with labels like 'can't do' and 'won't do.' Our students have worked hard to overcome these labels, but they need some tools in their hands to continue this work.
We hold our students to high standards and we do not let their circumstances hold them back.
We push them to develop a growth mindset and never give up. We know the work of learning is never truly finished.
These iPads will allow our students opportunities to expand their learning through creative programs and projects that the iPads allow them to access. Most of our students do not have access to technology at home. Giving them the chance to expand our their knowledge in creative ways and in unique outlets moves learning from static to dynamic. It is our job to prepare our students for careers and college. This requires our students to have experience using technology to engage with their peers to put their knowledge into practice and to deepen their knowledge. In many cases, our students cannot always travel lots of places, but the iPads allow students the opportunity to go anywhere the web will take them and to do anything the web will allow them to image. The possibilities are limitless!
