Help me give my students of the class of 2021 a successful start to the school year by providing them with essential materials including headphones, dry erase markers, notebooks, pencils, and more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Each year my classroom is filled with energetic students with a diverse range of abilities academically. Each student is eager to learn and thrive in a structured learning environment. They come to our room each morning ready to begin their learning journey. As one student wrote in her morning journal, "This is the bestis clasrum. I love to lurn."
Learning can only take place if the child becomes invested in their learning.
The low-income population of the students plays a large part in their disadvantage to other students at their academic level. Yet, their desire to achieve is the same.
My school is a Title I school. The majority of my students are from low income families. During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the future students of the families I will serve next year are and will be facing financial hardships. This project will provide the essential items such as pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue to equip each of my students for success as they complete assignments in learning stations. The primary journals will be used daily as they students put into practice their phonics skills and begin to learn to write in various formats on specific topics of discussion based on the curriculum. The dry erase makers and boards will be used to do assignments and quick assessments as students loves to do hands-one learning. The folders will be used to collect various forms of student work for example: assessments, assignments, and computer logs. The project will provide a financial relief to the parents so they can focus on basic needs such as food and clothing instead of school supplies. This project will not only provide them with the essentials they need in the classroom, but with materials they can use at home as well. The plastic pencil boxes will be used to create home supply kits that include will include pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, and dry erase markers for each student. The binders will work as a home resource also as they will be filled with resources pages in the sheet protectors to assist students and parents with making a home-school connection. Headphones will be assigned to each student for use on laptops to complete required online programs. If funded this project will remove one of the many barriers my students have to hurtle making a straighter path to their success.
