Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students thirst for knowledge and wisdom, but often lack the resources to quench their thirst.
We are a business-themed public high school, located in the heart of Queens, NY, the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world.
The children who enter my classroom, come from all over NYC. As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, many times, resources and some basic supplies, and equipment for extracurricular activities and team sports, are scarce.
My Project
Who doesn't love a good game of Rugby? I coach my high school's Girls' Rugby Team, which is comprised of the most amazing young ladies, you will ever meet. They are sweet, kind, and gentle, but on the field, they mean business! Please help me get this season started successfully. We need equipment to use during practices to help my girls hone their skills. In addition, the equipment will travel with us, on the field, where it really matters.
A healthy mind and a healthy body, go hand in hand.
During the day, I nurture my students' minds. After school, however, it's time to play!
