My Students
My students are from all walks of life. Most of them come from lower income families who have one parent households, or stay with their grandparents. The ages range from 14-18, which are freshman to seniors who all have mild to severe disabilities.
This will be the first year my students will have Adaptive PE and they desperately need equipment!
For the majority of them, this will be the only activity or physical movement they will get all day. Physical Education can be used as an outlet to help channel their frustrations. It challenges them, and helps them with essential daily life skills.
My Project
The students at my school have never had a Physical Education class of their own. My students should be afforded the same physical activity, peer socialization and learning opportunities for a healthy physical education, just as any other student.
The supplies and equipment will be used to create a safe environment to allow all students to have fun while practicing a healthy lifestyle.
In adaptive PE, we are hoping to incorporate and learn new sports such as basketball, soccer, softball/baseball, dodge-ball, yoga, and dancing. All of this will help the kids get out of their comfort zones, learn new things, socialize, and get physically active.
