Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first graders are bright, curious, and excitement-filled kids that love Math and Science. Although all kids are special, my students are particularly special because they love to work together. I take pride in having created a family-like culture in my classroom. This has made a huge impact in how the students work together. They constantly encourage each other to do better in all that they do.
With that said, I would like to provide my students with more opportunities to work together in engaging academic activities.
I’ve noticed that they enjoy learning, but learning needs to be fun! I can’t remember what I learned in the times, growing up, that were spent with my nose in a textbook doing book work (although that is important too). I remember the concepts being taught in the hands-on activities that were fun and engaging. I want continue to pique my students’ curiousity, and in turn, ignite their love for learning.
My Project
With technology on the rise, innovative applications, and millions of resources online, any chance I can give my students to explore on their iPads is a chance I give my students to learn something new. Helping me provide them with headphones so that they may fully understand the information being relayed, will help in the progress and growth my students will make. With the bouncy bands for their chairs, my students will be able to expel all of their excess energy during class time without being disruptive. This will allow my students to maximize their learing time, and use that excess energy where it is needed most.
With these few items, my students will find their passion for learning through access to technology and better use of learning time.
Having working headphones not only benefit those who are using them, but they also benefit those who are not. During small group rotations, the students that are working with me are able to fully concentrate on the work at hand as oppose to being distracted by the iPads that do not have headphones plugged in. Ultimately, with your donation, you would be helping all my students have equal access to the information online.
