I teach 10th grade Modern World History and 11th/12th grade AVID at an inner-city career/technical high school in Oregon. My students are a culturally diverse, inquisitive, and dedicated group of individuals who are in need of classroom materials to help take ownership of their learning.
Despite the overwhelming barriers they face on a daily basis, each of my students demonstrate resilience by continuously striving to grow and learn.

My Project
MY AVID Seniors and Juniors have worked endlessly this year on writing scholarship essays and applying to colleges and universities. They will wrap up their end of the year project by making vision boards that they can take with them into their first year of college or last year of high school.
The strategy of visualization is a highly effective tool used to help students set goals and create pathways to obtain those goals.
Vision boards are collections of images, words, photographs, and anything else memorable that represent student identity, both past and future. The requested supplies will help students create vision boards that are unique to them that they can carry with them as they embark on their new journey!
