Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

There is an old story of three blind men trying to describe an elephant. Each description is limited by each man's individual perspective. At times, teaching math can feel the same way. With many of my students coming from different public and charter schools in the Bronx, their mastery of skills and math experiences vary greatly. Visual aids and educational games are wonderful ways to enrich classroom instruction and strengthen math skills. An overhead projector allows math teachers to present information in a way that allows visual learners to see the concept through imagery. Games allow students to improve concepts such as basic computation skills as well as problem solving skills. Funding this proposal will help 3 innovative teachers bring math to life for 120 amazing children. Thank you.
