Being in a public school, I have limited access to lab materials. I am hoping that by providing fun and interesting labs for my class, my students will get a lot out of this course, succeed on the AP exam and begin to understand the importance of our planet.
Ever wonder just how much of an impact humans are having on the environment?
Help my students explore a variety of environmental issues, including many that are occurring in their backyards.
The students that will benefit from this project will be my class of 20-25 AP students. These students are extremely motivated and inspired to learn and understand more about their environment. We are in a public high school in New York where they are surrounded by a plethora of environmental issues that impact their lives on a daily basis.
My Project
My students need materials such as a hermit crab terrarium, and a biogeochemical cycles 8 station kit to make our AP Environmental Science class exciting and review books for their AP exam in May! All of the resources in this project will allow my students to take part in hands-on activities that relate directly to the AP Environmental Science curriculum. The lab kits will allow my students to work in small groups on inquiry-based science activities that will further their understanding of environmental issues that are important to the course curriculum and my students' lives. These materials will allow my class to explore various topics that are covered in the AP course curriculum.
In addition, I am providing my students with their own AP review book so that they have a resource to review from during the year and will help them prepare for their exam in May.
By providing my students with these resources, our environmental, science class will become fun and engaging!
I am hopeful that by performing all of these hands-on activities, the students will become interested in environmental science and wish to pursue this field in college and later in life.
